Recipe post 2016 No.3- Pancake Day Special!

Hiya everyone!

I apologize for today's post being published late at night. Unfortunately, it's the only time I have before I'm back to being busy and restless.  I thought it would be a good idea to share a recipe in honour of Shrove Tuesday (also known as PANCAKE DAY)!!!

Shrove Tuesday is celebrated a day before Lent( a Christian tradition)  begins. The whole point of making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is to use up all the rich ingredients before you give up something for Lent.

This pancake recipe is  used by my mum but this year  I decided  I'll give it a go JUST for whoever actually reads my posts.

In order to make scrumptious pancakes, you'll need:
100g of plain flour
275ml of milk
A pinch of salt
25g of Kerrygold butter
1 egg, beaten

For the syrup:
2 1\2 tablespoons of caster sugar
2 squeezed lemons

Method into making awesome and simple-to-make pancakes:

Pour the flour and pinch of salt into a bowl.
Beat in the egg with a wooden spoon until well combined.Gradually, add the milk to the pancake mix and whisk until the mixture forms into a runny batter.
In a medium-sized frying pan, add butter and heat on a high temp. Whilst the block of butter begins to melt, tilt the frying pan to grease- by doing this, it prevents the pancake from sticking to the pan.

Place three tablespoons of pancake batter in the centre of the pan and tilt until the batter
coats the base evenly. Cook 'till the pancake moves freely in the pan, then either turn or flip the pancake over and cook until golden brown( seeing as this is my first attempt, I  did not flip the pancakes in case  it all ends in  disaster! However, if you're confident enough and have made pancakes before, have a go)!

To make yummy lemon syrup, place all required ingredients into a pan , heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour over pancakes once they're cool.

Topping suggestions:

My favorite suggestion would have to be either Nutella spread
or halve strawberries neatly placed on a pancake.
Another topping suggestion could be maple syrup, golden syrup, lemon syrup or even fruit syrup.
Depending whether you'd like a savory pancake or not, you could top your pancakes
with crispy bacon stripes, fried tomatoes and spinach(yum), fried egg, grated cheese and so on-be original.

For an healthy alternate, you could sprinkle fresh or dried fruits over your pancakes-it's up to you!

I hope you've enjoyed Pancake Day and like today's recipe. Comment below or e-mail me to: chocolatecupcakes08@gmail.com - let me know how you got on!

  3. I haven't brought a new camera,MissFF.However, before I use to take pictures with my Samsung and I found some of the pictures didn't come out right. Then I begun using my tablet to take shots and edit my pictures too.
