Recipe Post 2023 - Christmas Sparkly Angels !

 Hello,

I hope you all are healthy and happy, geared up for the brilliant year ahead! Today's recipe marks a special dedication to Christmas with its delicate cinnamon spice and Christmas cheer with the glazy white icing. It is typically a tradition of mine to make these biscuits using star cookie cutters, however this year I was inspired by the Hark Angels Hymn, and used angels instead!!

To make these spectacular angel cookies, you'll need:

- 215g of plain flour

- 1 tsp of baking powder

- a pinch of salt

- 140g of unsalted butter, slightly softened

- 115g of soft light brown sugar

- 1 tsp of ground cinnamon (I wanted an extra cinnamon-y taste, so I added 1½ tsp)

- 1 egg yolk ONLY

For decoration:

- 200g of icing sugar

- 1 tbsp of lemon juice (this is important for the taste as well as a slight glazed finish)

- 1-2 tbsp of water

- Edible decorating balls (I will link the ones I used at the end)

Equipment Needed:

- A sieve

- Large mixing bowl

- Large wooden spoon

- Rolling pin

- Cookie cutter of one's choice

- 2 large baking trays lined with baking paper

- Wire cooling rack

- Small mixing bowl

- Silver teaspoon

Instructions to bake:

1) Begin by pre-heating the oven to 180℃/160℃ Fan/ 350°F/ Gas Mark 4.

2) Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a large mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon until well combined.

3) Following Step 2, rub in the butter using your fingertips until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs(see images below). Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon and egg yolk.

4) Using your hands, gather the biscuit mixture to form a soft dough. Lightly flour the work surface and rolling pin before rolling the dough until it's around 5mm thick.

5) Manoeuvre your chosen cookie cuter to stamp out as many biscuits as possible, and carefully transfer onto the prepared baking sheets

6) Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes until they turn a light golden colour/slightly browned at top. Leave the biscuits to cool a little then eventually move to the wire rack.

Baking Note (BN): While the biscuits are baking, the wafting aroma of cinnamon fills the entire house and invites warm Christmas feels and festivityπŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

7) For the icing, place icing sugar in a small bowl, add the lemon juice and gradually stir in the water to produce a smooth glaze.

8) Spread the icing over each biscuit, using the back of a teaspoon and decorate with the edible balls.

First Recipe Post Of The YearπŸ˜…πŸ˜†πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Š

Hola a todos!

I hope you are all in good health and been making the most of life since my first POST of the year. So well....I apprehend this week's post as a little extra-EXTRAORDINARY from my usual posts as it's the first recipe post of the year. Obviously, I'd like to start my long list of recipe posts to a good start. This week's recipe is affordable to make, super easy, and most importantly healthier than usual. To note,I feel it sums up January in one word;healthy(for those who have kept their new year's resolutions),cosy and warm on the inside- Can you guess?

In order to concoct my "mystery-but-won't-be-soon" bake, you'll need:

255g of plain flour

3 teaspoons of baking powder

½ teaspoon of salt

100g of caster sugar

60g of butter

225ml of semi-skimmed milk

110g of apple-peeled,cored and chopped

Method:

First and foremost, preheat the oven to 200℃/180℃ fan oven/Gas Mark 6.

Lightly grease a 12-hole muffin tin with paper muffin cases.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.

In a different bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Eventually incorporate the flour mix into the butter mix, alternating with the milk at regular intervals.

Fold in the apple until decently mixed in. Divide the batter amongst the muffin tin.

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick is inserted into the centre of a muffin and comes out clean.

Recipe Post Special- Valentine's Day (2nd year in a row)!

Before anything else, Happy Valentine's Day!

It is unbelievable that the same time last year, I was writing up 2016's Valentine's Day Special Recipe which consisted of my favorite type of cake, in the form of a cookie. Not that my cookies had been a success.... But now I'm back with a new lovable treat which will cause your love one to beg for more! Besides, it's most likely the healthiest recipe I have ever baked on BakingBoutique!

In order to make this adorable Valentine's treat, you'll require:

8 large fresh strawberries

2 eggs

200g of caster sugar

75ml of vegetable oil

½ tsp of vanilla extract

½ tsp of grated lemon zest (I didn't add this but I'd recommend you doing so for a fresher taste).

200g of plain flour

2tsp of baking powder

¼ tsp of salt

Baking in the making (thought i could experiment with anew opening for the method😜)

As always, preheat the oven to 170 C/ Gas Mark 3. Grease 12 holes of a cupcake tin  or line with cupcake cases.

Place 8 strawberries into a blender and blend until smooth. If you do not access to a blender or food processor, simply simmer the strawberries within a pan of water until the strawberries grow soft. Afterwards, set aside to cool for approximately ten minutes before mushing the strawberries with a potato masher/fork.

Pour this through a  sieve in order to remove seeds. Set this aside.

In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, caster, sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, lemon zest and strawberry puree until well combined. Eventually, stir in the flour, baking powder, salt and food colouring in order to reach a desired shade of pink.

I opted to pour the mix into the cases but you can choose to spoon the mix into the individual cupcake cases, filling two-thirds of the way full.

Bake in the oven for around 20-23 minutes or until the cupcakes have risen and a skewer inserted into the centre of the cupcake comes out clean.

Allow cupcakes to cool for at least 10 minutes before icing.

There are many variations of icing these cupcakes. It could be plain buttercream icing, chocolate buttercream, red velvet icing(to stick with the love theme), regular fondant icing poured  over the cakes. I decided to pipe vanilla buttercream over my cupcakes. And Volia!

Snapshots!
